A Herefordshire country inn is the first in the country to achieve a prestigious Ethical Company Award from The Good Shopping Guide.
Business partners, Luke Conod and Byron Campbell, bought the near derelict Swan Inn at Letton in North Herefordshire 18 months ago and have made a substantial investment to bring the 400-year-old coaching inn back to its former glory.
“We were absolutely delighted with the news about the award.” Said Byron Campbell.
“A business like the Swan Inn at Letton cannot ignore that customers consider social responsibility more and more in their decisions.
We are set in the countryside, and should be of the countryside, so we make sure nature is as welcome as our customers, by establishing wildflowers and leaving untidy nooks and crannies.
We want to make sure we use local suppliers to reduce freight miles, so we use excellent local businesses where we can for our food and drink supplies.
We also want to get the details right so even our toilet paper helps support sanitation in the developing world.
We want to make ethical decisions wherever we can, and we know many of our customers expect us to make better choices in how we go about business.”
