The A48 at Chepstow has re-opened after an earlier accident.
Emergency services were called to the main route at around 10:40am today.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Paramedics have attended and no serious injuries were reported, although the drivers of both cars will be taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precaution.
“Monmouthshire County Council have been contacted to clear up the debris in the road, which has now re-opened.”
