The High Sheriff and The Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire visited Clun today for the handover of the Defibrillator that 11 year old Jess Benson raised money for.
The Clun Valley AED Scheme Committee are extremely grateful to Jess Benson, who decided that she would like to support their vital voluntary work in providing Defibrillators all across the Clun Valley. Jess came up with a unique challenge for herself, to swim the equivalent distance of the River Clun from Clun to Newcastle just before her 11th birthday!
On successfully completing her sponsored swim of just over 4 miles in May 2023, Jess raised a magnificent total of £535! Jess said “ I am extremely grateful for everyone's support and I'm delighted to have raised the money towards a new defibrillator that is now situated at Clun Memorial Hall.
This is a special milestone as it brings the total number of defibrillators provided to local communities by the Clun Valley AED Scheme to 30, with over 500 people now trained free of charge so that they can be confident to use a defibrillator in the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest.
