Ten more homes bid for village

A plan to build ten four-bedroom homes by a main Herefordshire road has been put forward.

Mike Etheridge Construction of Gloucestershire has submitted the plan to build the ten detached two-storey homes, to be sold at market rate, on a 0.9-hectare field by the Wheatsheaf Inn, Fromes Hill, on the A4103 Hereford-Worcester Road.

Each would have a “modest” driveway with at least two parking spaces, in addition to the garages and bicycle storage space with each.

Heating and hot water would be provided by individual air-source heat pumps.

An ecological impact assessment of the scheme “would need to be produced in due course”, the application says, adding that surveys of reptiles and great crested newts on the site are “in progress”.

Permission has already been granted to the same developer for a further 20 houses on an adjacent plot of land immediately south of the inn, on which work has already begun.

The new development would share access with these, on a new road onto the A4103, and would share designs with them. The two plots would also share a strip of natural planting to the south.

Comments on the application, planning reference number 221254, can be made until 20 May.
