Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak were both in Ludlow today.

Almost 400 party members, including some members from at least ten neighbouring constituencies from Worcestershire, Herefordshire, mid-Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands attended the event at Ludlow Racecourse.

Each candidate made their pitch to members, setting out their vision for the nation and the party, before taking part in a question-and-answer session.

Dunne commented, “I am pleased to have secured a visit to South Shropshire from both final candidates to address members. I confirmed the initial results from my recent constituent survey showing that amongst party members and the wider electorate in the Ludlow constituency, both candidates are neck-and-neck as to who would make the best Prime Minister.]

“Today’s event was an opportunity for both candidates to make their case to those members who have yet to decide who to support. With around one third of members responding to the survey still undecided, it is all to play for in South Shropshire”.

One poll's giving Liz Truss a 34 point lead over her rival Rishi Sunak in the Conservative leadership contest.

A YouGov survey for The Times shows 60 percent of Conservative party members are backing her, versus 26 percent for Mr Sunak.

She's extended her lead from a fortnight ago following a poll - by the same organisation - which put her 18 points ahead.
