A motorist has been given a 3 month prison sentence after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice following a speeding offence in Herefordshire.
The sentence follows a speeding offence that was detected on 22nd September on the A40 near Pencraig, Herefordshire. Roger Armstrong of Baston, Peterborough was detected travelling at 58mph in a 50mph limit and was offered a speed awareness course. In order to avoid the offence, Mr Armstrong claimed he was on holiday at the time and his plates had been stolen. Following an investigation this was proven to be incorrect and Mr Armstrong pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.
The sentencing was heard in court on the 26th January and the offender was sentenced to 3 months in prison and ordered to pay a victim surcharge fee of £128.
