Police are looking for 52-year-old Richard Smart who failed to return to HMP Prescoed near Usk last Friday.
Smart was convicted of burglary at Exeter Crown Court on 13th September 2018.
He is described as white, about six feet tall, with short grey hair, last time he was seen he had grey facial stubble. He was also wearing a black zip up jacket, black jogging bottoms and black trainers/shoes.
Richard Smart is not a registered sex offender and is not considered to be a risk to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to call Gwent Police on 101.
