The first local schools which will trial free breakfast clubs have been named.
From April, 750 primaries will become what’s described as ‘early adopters’ of the seven-million pound programme, before a national rollout.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson insists the clubs will help to break the link ‘between background and success’ – though some unions warn funding may fall short.
