Local MP Philip Dunne visited Rushbury Church of England Primary School as part of the celebration the school’s bicentenary last Thursday.

The school was established by a benefactor, Benjamin Wainwright who established a Trust in order to provide education to children in Rushbury and the surrounding parishes in 1821.  The school buildings, which sit on the same site adjacent to the church, remain in the ownership of the Trust.

Mr Dunne said: “I was delighted to be able to visit Rushbury C of E Primary School at such an important point in its history and was especially pleased to see the school thriving under its new head Steve Morris, with teaching back to normal after such a difficult year.  Many congratulations to everyone involved in ensuring the school continues to thrive 200 years after its foundation.”
