Rural homes plan near Welsh border

Herefordshire Council will consider plans to build three homes in a hamlet near the Welsh border nex week.

Messrs Partridge want to build two bungalows and a house at Lemsford in Broad Oak near Ross-on-Wye.

However, Garway parish council has objected to the scheme because they say the development is too close to a slurry lagoon and falls outside the village settlement boundary.

Some 11 eleven residents have also objected to the scheme raising concerns over the increase in traffic, lack of local services and overdevelopment in the hamlet.

One letter has been sent in support of the scheme which says bungalows are needed in the area, the homes would support local businesses and that it would be proportionate to Broad Oak.

Planning officers have recommended rejecting the scheme because it falls outside of the settlement boundary for Broad Oak and would go against the Garway neighbourhood development plan.

Councillors will have their say on the proposals at the planning and regulatory committee meeting scheduled for 10.30 am on September 30.
