People are opposing plans for new homes on a field at the end of a private road near Leominster.

Colin Pudge wants to develop land next to St Mary’s Church in Kings Pyon.

Consultants working on the scheme for two houses say there is a shortage of homes in the village and the proposals would not affect the nearby church.

“The proposal can only improve the situation in Kings Pyon. It is likely no more than four vehicle movements a day will occur from the site,” the design and access statement rads.

However, Pyons group parish council has objected to the scheme along with several residents who say the applicant does not have permission to use the private road.

“The unadopted track is beyond capacity for any further dwellings whatsoever and cannot be altered or widened in any way by the applicant, who has no control over it,” Clare Fletcher an objector, said.

“In any case, the applicant has no rights whatsoever to widen or touch the track in any way.

“The applicant would require permission of those with an interest in the track, three of the properties have refused the applicant permission.”

Richard Harris, another objector, said: “The residents of Claylands, Church Cottage and Church House were the ones who originally made up the track’s surface years ago and have continued to maintain it to this day very satisfactorily.

“All three properties have recently responded in writing to irrefutably deny the applicant once and for all a right of way over their respective parts of the drive.

“Without these consents he has no access so why is the application not being summarily refused?”

People have until February 18 to comment on the proposals which  Herefordshire Council is expected to consider by March 8.
