A burst water main in the Putson area of Hereford is impacting on water supplies to areas in south Hereford. These areas include Belmont, Newton Farm, Redhill and Whitecross, Kings Acre, Putson, Hinton and Hunderton areas.
Ian Christie from Welsh Water said: "We are on site repairing the damaged water main but it is proving challenging as there is a high voltage electricity cable located nearby and the work needs to be done carefully. Our current estimate is that the repair will be completed later today and supplies should begin returning later this evening.
"Customers who may be impacted have been updated by automated text message (landlines or mobile). We are providing updates on our website and also on our Twitter and Facebook accounts and ask customers to check these regularly.
"We are liaising with key sites in the area including schools and providing bottled water directly to those vulnerable customers in the area such as those on dialysis, on our additional needs register.
"We have also set up a bottled water collection point for anyone that requires bottled water. This is located at:
Tesco car park, Abbotsmead Road, Belmont, Hereford, HR2 7XS
"We are also seeking a second bottled water location and will advise of this as soon as this is confirmed.
"We wish to apologise again for this and wish to assure you that we are doing everything we can to put things right and restore drinking water supplies as quickly as possible."
