A former Herefordshire cinema and now events venue and gallery wants a licence to host music and show films.
The previously disused Old Picture House in Bridge Street, Kington was granted planning permission before Christmas for use as a venue for conferences, events and classes, though not parties or weddings.
The bid was made by Keith Larratt, who lives at the former Methodist chapel and until late 1960s the town’s cinema, and has already spent several years renovating it.
He is now seeking a licence to show films, with volumes “maintained at a reasonable level”, between 10am and 11pm seven days a week, and also to host “non-amplified” music performances within the same hours.
CCTV and fire safety measures are to be installed that the venue. It is not applying for an alcohol licence.
The Old Picture House’s application can be commented on via the Herefordshire Council website until February 27.
