Ross-on-Wye councillors are on the hunt for a town crier.
Ross is currently without one but members of the local council believe having one could be a great boost for tourism.
The town council agreed last week to spend up to £300 on a costume for the crier.
They are looking for volunteers who would like to take up the role and are hoping to host auditions.
Councillor Ed O’Driscoll said it came about after they were approach about VE day announcements.
“It would be a great addition to the town,” he said.
“It’s something we can use on holidays and announce these meetings from time to time.
“It could be a draw on a Saturday morning in the town, around the market.”
He said they could do an X-Factor style search for a star.
