Outline planning permission has last week been issued by Shropshire Council to the Harworth Group for redevelopment of the former Ironbridge Power Station site.
A resolution to approve the application by was passed in September 2021, and an associated legal agreement securing supporting infrastructure for the proposals has just been completed.
The development proposals will involve provision of 1,000 dwellings, a retirement village, employment land, leisure facilities, a new primary school, a village centre, two new accesses off the A4169, and associated infrastructure.
Part of the site is located within the administrative area of Telford & Wrekin Council, and the two local unitary councils have worked closely together to ensure that the planning approval takes appropriate account of all relevant land use considerations.
