National Bike Week 2021

National Bike Week 2021 is 30th May- 5th June, The theme for National Bike Week 2021 is health and wellbeing. 

Mental health awareness is profoundly important, and step by step the stigma toward it is burning out.  Cycling has the potential to get you out in mother-nature, breathe fresh air and be among wild-life.

With warm weather predicted over half-term, why not take a picnic to one of these trails and explore with friends or family?


1)    Beryl –  Hereford centre 
Do you live in the city centre? If so, why not find a nearby Beryl and take it for a spin. Whether you are going to meet a friend for a coffee or are on your commute to work, riding a Beryl is a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to hopping in your car.

 2) Brecon to Hay-on-Wye
This route is for those who like a longer, more challenging bike ride. 
This 17 mile ride follows National Cycle routes 8 and 42 from Brecon to Hay-on-Wye through the idyllic Brecon Beacons National Park. The ride is mainly traffic free, however there is a totally traffic free section of the journey near Talgarth. Whilst cycling, you will regularly have views of the stunning Welsh Black Mountains.

3)The Perigrine path- Monmouth
The route begins in the market town of Monmouth, where pub lunches and shop stalls can be found. 
The Perigrine Path is a 7.5 mile route connecting Monmouth to Symonds Yat Rock. This cycle  path is mainly traffic-free and takes you along the River Wye. Whilst roaming along, you will be right on the border between England and Wales. This route is ideal for family days out, with lots to be seen whilst completing the journey. 

4)    Lady Halton Loop- Ludlow
Route 5 is a 7 mile circular route along small countryside lanes, allowing the exploration of Ludlow. Route highlights include Mill on the Green, Ludlow food centre and Ludlow Castle.

 

5) Malvern Hills
This ride is another for the more experienced cyclists who are comfortable with off-roading.  Steep climbs and testing terrain can be optional if you are a dare-devil, with on and off-roading. Perfect for the thrill seekers. Whilst cycling over the hills, you will have stunning views across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. There is a short route, medium route and long route, superbly accommodating for those who are wanting to get outdoors and have an adventure!
