Philip Dunne MP has welcomed the latest figures which show, in the year following the European Referendum, the UK attracted more investment than ever before, which has created 6,570 new jobs in the West Midlands.

In the last financial year, over 75,000 new jobs were created and over 30,000 were safeguarded. These results also show that, of the 2,265 projects, the Department for International Trade helped secure over 80 per cent of them - nearly 1,900 individual projects that have created jobs and brought investment into communities right across the UK.

The figures are the latest confirmation that the UK is the number one destination for inward investment in Europe.

Mr Dunne said: 'These record-breaking figures show Britain is open for business, and companies have the confidence in the economy to invest here.

'The 6,570 jobs created in the West Midlands over the last year show we can continue to attract businesses and create jobs as we deliver on the will of British people and leave the European Union.

'We are in a position of strength as we begin to forge a new role for ourselves in the world - creating a UK trade policy so that we can build a country that works for everyone.'
