A man from Herefordshire has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for an attempted murder in 2022.
Alexander Stone, 38, of Bridge Street in Kington was handed the sentence on Friday (21 July 2023) at Worcester Crown Court.
On 22 July 2022 Stone launched an unprovoked attack on his victim where he attempted to strike her on the head with a hammer multiple times. The attack took place in broad daylight on the High Street in Kington, which was busy with shoppers at the time.
Members of the public quickly intervened prior to the arrival of police, which meant that thankfully the victim wasn’t physically injured. However, without their bravery the outcome for the victim could have been very different.
