A Herefordshire Farm Shop was inundated with response when they asked for suggestions for a new ice cream flavour to add to their multi award-winning range.
Oakchurch Farm Shop at Staunton-on-Wye has been hand-making ice creams and sorbets for several years, using fresh local ingredients, including freshly picked soft fruit from their own farm.
“From over 500 flavour ideas, one stood out to all of our judges.” Said Oakchurch owner, Nick Price. “Victoria Covey from Pembridge came up with ‘plum crumble’ and we were delighted to be able to use locally grown plums from the Skittery farm in Ledbury in the recipe.”
Victoria dropped in at Oakchurch for a taste test and collect her £100 winner’s prize from Nick Price and ice cream maker Sindy Davey.
The outdoor ice cream shack at Oakchurch is now closed for the winter months but their homemade ice creams and sorbets are still available in take-home tubs instore.
