A man was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court yesterday following a fatal collision in Malvern in August 2023.
Peter Burrow, 91, of Meadow Walk in Colwall pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and causing serious injury by careless driving following the collision on Church Street in Malvern on 8 August 2023.
He has been given an eight-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, disqualified from driving for three years, requiring an extended re-test, and ordered to pay a £1000 fine, as part of a low level community order.
The car Burrow was driving left the road and collided with a group of pedestrians. One of the pedestrians sadly died of her injuries the following day, and another two were left with serious injuries.
DC Paul Pickering of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic collision and our thoughts remain with the family of the person who died, and the people who were seriously injured.
“I’m glad that proceedings have now concluded and hope that those affected by the collision can start to recover from the incredibly sad events of that day.”
