In its latest phase of road surface improvements in the county, Herefordshire Council has awarded three separate contracts, together worth just under £1.12 million, to Tarmac Trading.

The sole A-road in the newly announceed package is the A4103 Hereford to Worcester road west of Fromes Hill, where “delays are likely” between May 27 and 29, according to the council’s roadworks map.

The other roads on Tarmac’s to-do list include:

The B4225 north of the A449 at Old Gore northeast of Ross-on-Wye (June 2-6);
The B4203 between the B4204 and Pouke Lane, Upper Sapey between Bromyard and Stanford Bridge (traffic lights May 29-30);
B4224 within and south of Bromsash (June 23 to July 4);
C1037 at Cobnash (time not listed);
C1095 Hill Road to Brinsop Court northwest of Hereford (June 11-13);
Sellack Boat, scheduled to be completed on May 13;
Stone Street, Madley (late July);
Auberrow Lane to the A49 junction at Moreton on Lugg (late July / early August).

The work forms part of a £10-million roads resurfacing package funded by the council for the current financial year, of which £3.26 million has already been committed.

The quote given by Tarmac for the work “is likely to be significantly lower than the other suppliers based upon the quotation information submitted within the framework tender,” the council said.
