A Herefordshire farmer is looking for a real life Worzel Gummidge.

Fancy standing in a field all day and scaring birds? That's exactly what Martin Jones from Bromyard is looking for.

The farmer at Straw Farm is looking to recruit up to ten people to stand up to eight hours a day in his fields.

The 55-year-old said: "I need a group of people to be human scarecrows because conventional birdscarers have not worked."

"They'll have to wear a bright orange coat and use a cowbell to frighten the birds".

Michael Hay who has spent the past few weeks trialling for the position said:"It's nice to be out in the fresh air, although it gets very cold when the wind whips across the field and I've had to shelter in a wood when it's rained."

The position has a yearly salary of £45,000 and comes with benefits such as unlimited horse manure.
