Two electric car charging points will be installed at a rural supermarket car park.
Harry Tuffins in Craven Arms has successfully applied for the charging points, having been given permission by Shropshire Council this week.
Elizabeth Davies, council planning case officer, said: “The proposal is for the installation of two rapid electric vehicle-charging points in an existing car park.
“The application site is located towards the south-eastern corner of a car park that serves The Craven Centre (a local supermarket).
“The application site lies to the east of The Craven Arms Hotel which is a Grade II-listed building and to the west of the A49.
“The site is bounded to the south by a barrier and fence and to the west by large boulders with a bus stop beyond. The car park is of tarmac construction with the bays clearing defined.
“The proposal is acceptable in terms of its siting, scale, design and materials and would not result in any loss of amenity.
“The location of the unit will not affect vehicular movement throughout the site as it is utilising already existing parking area.
“The site lies near to two Grade II-listed buildings, however in this instance due to the nature of the site and its current use as a car park, the proposed installation would not look inappropriate in this context and would not create any undue harm to the setting of nearby listed buildings
“Therefore the application is considered to accord with the relevant local plan policy set out by Policy CS6 of the adopted Core Strategy and is recommended for approval.”
The plans were then approved by Shropshire Council’s planning officers by delegated powers.
