Chance for people to shape council’s transport and travel policies

Shropshire people and organisations will soon have the chance to help shape Shropshire Council’s new Local Transport Plan.

The document (LTP4) will help the council plan its transport objectives and policies for the next 10 to 15 years.

A series of 12 online workshops – each focusing on a different theme – are due to be held in June 2021, ahead of a full public consultation this autumn, before the Plan is approved and adopted in 2022.

The Local Transport Plan will focus on how transport will support Shropshire’s people, places and activities to contribute to the county’s strategic objectives and wider policies related to health, education, the economy and the environment.

The short workshops with stakeholders will help to identify key challenges and gather evidence at an early stage. A small number of places are available on a first come first served basis.

Steve Brown, Shropshire Council’s head of transport and environment, said: “Transport is vital to ensuring that everyone can have access to their daily needs and activities. It has a significant role to place in place-making, supporting communities, building the economy, protecting the environment and promoting good health.

“Engagement with Shropshire’s communities and stakeholders, and those with whom we work across our borders, is integral to the planning for the future, as the LTP will need to demonstrate our understanding of the mobility needs of different people, places and activities in Shropshire.”
