Hereford volunteers will receive £50,000 of government funding to refurbish the pavilion on Castle Green.
The Friends Castle Green Pavilion want to create a multifunctional, flexible and accessible space for community use at the Georgian building.
This new space could also be used as a training facility for disadvantaged groups from nearby deprive neighbourhoods.
The money will come from the £750,000 Towns Fund grant the council will receive from central government.
Cabinet agreed to receive the funding from the Government and it needs to be spent by next spring.
Castle Green Pavilion is owned by Herefordshire Council but was leased to the Friends of Castle Green in 2018 for 25 years.
The Friends of Castle Green is a community interest company that delivers services from the building to meet the needs of the local community.
