Organisers of the Burwarton Show have confirmed this year's event has been cancelled.

This decision has not been taken lightly and reflects the fragile nature of the roadmap, alongside the uncertainty over regulations for large events this Summer, which has made planning for the 2021 Show nigh on impossible.

Chairman, Alan Watkins, commented “We are all extremely saddened to have come to this decision, but the Society is a Charity and the Show costs in excess of £200,000 to stage each year. If we continue making plans and the Show then had to be cancelled late on, we feel that it would be irresponsible to risk the Society reserves that have been built up over the years just for the sake of one more year. We are unable to insure against the pandemic and feel that it is too great a risk to take”.

Alan further commented “This is my second year as Show Chairman and, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what was ahead of me when I was elected in January 2020. Cancellation of two consecutive shows is unprecedented in the history of Burwarton Show and I have to hope that it will be “third time lucky” in 2022 when we are planning a bigger and even better show for everyone’s enjoyment”.
