Damage to the bridge in July 2025.

Usk’s historic Grade II listed bridge has been struck again by a lorry – the 17th time in a decade.

The latest crash comes just weeks after £10,000 repairs, prompting renewed calls for action.

Councillor Tony Kear says the damage is unsustainable and is urging a permanent solution to protect the bridge and taxpayers from mounting costs.”

Cllr Kear said "The repeated strikes on Usk Bridge highlight the urgent need for a permanent and workable solution. Without decisive action, this much-loved structure – central to the town’s heritage and identity – will remain at risk, along with the public finances at a time when local services are being reduced".
