Philip Dunne MP has released the final results of his constituency wide survey, showing how South Shropshire voters want to resolve the Brexit uncertainty.

With almost 5,300 people responding to the survey, the clear majority of voters wanted to see Brexit resolved by 31st October, with 72% supporting the Prime Minister’s plan. Just 14% support Labour’s policy of a second referendum, and only 7% support the Liberal Democrat policy of revoking Article 50 without going back to the people.

When asked which of the only two major party candidates to lead the country would make the better Prime Minister, 76% of respondents preferred Boris Johnson, with just 7% preferring Jeremy Corbyn, and 17% saying they did not know. Surprisingly, over one in ten people who said they would likely vote Labour at a General Election, preferred Mr Johnson as choice for Prime Minister.

Mr Dunne’s survey was issued in hard copy to over 38,000 constituents across South Shropshire, and was available for all constituents to complete online via www.tellphilip.com.

Mr Dunne said: “My survey opened at the beginning of September, so events have moved on somewhat since the preliminary responses were given. I have been clear this survey represents only a snapshot. But the results do indicate clearly that the majority of respondents wanted Brexit delivered by 31st October.

It is therefore incredibly frustrating that the Opposition in Parliament continue to vote for more dither and delay.

I have voted to Leave with a deal, to get Brexit done and allow us to move on – and that is what I shall continue to do.”
