Police are appealing for witnesses following a single-vehicle collision in Shropshire.

It happened at around 11:20pm on Wednesday 9 March.

Police were called to the A5, Daywell Junction, in Gobowen near Oswestry, where a grey Seat Ibiza Cupra had come off the road, collided with a road sign, and rolled over.

The driver of the vehicle suffered severe injuries and was treated at the scene by crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.

If anyone saw the vehicle that was heading southbound from Gledrid roundabout either in the moments immediately before or after the crash, then please contact the police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have CCTV footage of it is asked to visit https://www.westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ quoting incident number 594i of 9 March 2022.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a vehicle who drove past the scene shortly afterwards and collided with some of the debris, and who may have dash-cam footage.

Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers. It is 100% anonymous, they never ask your name and they cannot trace your call or IP address. You can contact them online or by calling 0800 555 111.
