Another highly successful year for A-level results in Shropshire

Initial indicators show that Shropshire’s schools, academies and colleges post-16 A-level results are once again good and that it promises to be another highly successful year.

Overall entry patterns are similar to previous years with a slight imbalance in favour of vocational qualifications against A level (academic) qualifications. Reforms to A levels are a particular feature this year with many students experiencing, for the first time, the new two- year A level qualification.

Karen Bradshaw, Shropshire Council’s director of children’s services, said: “We would like to congratulate all the students for their hard work, and we appreciate how much they have had to do to achieve their results. We wish all the students receiving their results today every success in the future, including those moving forward with a university application or into the world of work.

“We would also like to thank everyone who plays a part in our school and college communities across Shropshire. This includes our hugely skilled and committed teachers, headteachers and college principals, governors, support staff, people who contribute voluntarily and, of course, parents and carers who play such an important supportive role.”

For those pursuing the university route, applicants can log into the UCAS Track service to find out whether or not they have been accepted at the firm or insurance choice. If students have not been placed there are many places still available through ‘Clearing’ this year and qualified students will be in demand. For those students whose results are different to expected further advice and guidance can be sought from their school or college.
