Woman dies following A49 collision near Leominster

Officers from West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision near Leominster.

It happened on the A49 at around 7.40pm on Sunday.

A Peugeot Partner Tepee and a BMW were travelling in the direction of Ludlow from Leominster while a Skoda Octavia was being driven in the opposite direction.

The BMW and Skoda are understood to have collided before the BMW was in collision with the Peugeot.

The driver of the Skoda - a woman is her 60s - was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly afterwards. Her next of kin have been informed and a file passed to the coroner.

The driver of the BMW - a man in his 20s - suffered serious injuries while a passenger is also believed to have been injured. Both were taken to hospital. The driver and passenger in the Peugeot were uninjured.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident or saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 683S of 13 May.
