Officers from West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision near Hereford.

It happened on the A49 Dinmore Hill at around 2.30pm on Thursday and involved a white Yamaha motorbike and a silver Toyota Landcruiser.

The white Yamaha motorbike was being ridden towards Leominster and the silver Toyota was travelling in the opposite direction when they collided. The rider of the motorbike - a 17-year-old boy - suffered fatal injuries.

His next of kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The motorcyclist, a man, suffered multiple serious injuries and was in cardiac arrest. Ambulance staff took over CPR efforts by bystanders and performed advanced life support on scene. Sadly, despite the best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead a short time later.

“The driver of the car, a woman, was treated for the effects of shock and discharged at the scene.”

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident, or who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 339S of 11 January.
