Dublin Airport's Terminal 2 has been given the all-clear, hours after passengers were evacuated from the building due to a report of an "item of airline luggage of concern".

The airport said flights would resume at around 2.30pm, but "temporary disruption" could continue for the rest of the day.

Irish police said it requested the "assistance of the Defence Forces' Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team" after the report, and following an investigation, the luggage was "contained and deemed safe for removal" from the airport.

There is no suggestion that the evacuation was linked to the cyber attack that has caused disruption at several European airports.

However, the airport said it was also experiencing minor impacts related to the Europe-wide software issue.

Passengers are still advised to check with their airline for travel updates.
