A free event designed to help learners prepare for the new academic year will take place at The Shell Store in Hereford on Thursday, 13 August. The study day will bring together five specialists offering accessible, person-centred support to help improve confidence, focus and regulation for learners of all ages.
Specialists attending include Holly Bolt, a specialist teacher and assessor; Kamila Hadley, a nutrition practitioner and essential oils educator; Fliss Falconer, educator and creator of EchoGuide Pro; Cathy Hart, a voice and confidence coach; and Ellie Starling, an educator and trainee reflexologist.
The event will offer information and guidance on learning strategies, assistive technology, study skills and regulation, with practical tools for students, parents, carers and education professionals.
The morning has been designed to be flexible and neuroinclusive, allowing people to attend the full session or drop in for specific advice. One-to-one conversations with specialists will be available, and breaks, movement, stimming and other regulation strategies will be encouraged. Quiet spaces will be available at the venue and support animals are welcome.
The session is aimed at anyone in learning or work, including students moving to secondary school, starting GCSEs, college, apprenticeships or university, and those beginning their first job.
Topics covered will include resources for September, strategies to support concentration, self-regulation and confidence, assistive technology, Disabled Students’ Allowance and Access to Work.
