Westfields recorded their first Hellenic League win of the new season when they pipped unbeaten Roman Glass St George of Bristol at allpay.park on Saturday.
After an uneventful opening first half Westfields took an early second half lead when Joe Davies soared above the visitors’ defence to powerfully head home the opening goal.
Westfields’ keeper Ian Havard was then called into action with two excellent saves to keep Westfields ahead.
Westfields also had a goal disallowed in the second half as they worked hard, again with an under- strength team with 5 players missing through isolation.
Rob Purdie, making his debut, only lasted 10 minutes due to injury but the relatively young Westfields side worked hard to register a first league win of the new season at the third attempt.
Westfields now go to Longlevens on Wednesday in another league game then on Saturday return to allpay.park for an FA Cup tie with visiting Coventry United.
