Westfields ended their home Hellenic league fixtures with a 1-0 win over visiting Thornbury Town at allpay.park on Good Friday.
The game was part of national Groundhoppers Day and attracted 300 at sun drenched allpay.park.
Westfields dominated long periods but as has been the case this season failed to take their chances.
Josh Hunt had an early chance but his shot sailed wide of the post but Westfields' leading goalscorer put Westfields ahead on 39 minutes when he rose to head home a Dan Stoneman cross to give Westfields the lead. Earlier Sam Griffiths had a shot saved by McKenzie Welsh in the Thornbury goal and it was the Thornbury keeper who kept the visitors in the game.
After the break Welsh thwarted Hunt and Stoneman, then substitute Keanu Cooper missed a sitter after good work by Stoneman.
Thornbury were dangerous on the break but skipper Kane Kahaki was superb at the heart of the defence. Westfields were finishing stronger but Thornbury's McKenzie Welsh was in superb form to restrict Westfields to a 1-0 home victory.
After the game Joe Davies was presented with the Westfields Supporters' player of the year award by long standing supporter Gerald Marchant.
