West Mercia Police welcomes new Deputy Chief Constable

West Mercia Police has welcomed its new Deputy Chief Constable.

Alex Murray joins the force and is the first chief officer to take the oath under King Charles III. 

He previously served with  the Metropolitan Police Service and West Midlands Police.

Alex has taken on the role from Deputy Chief Constable Julian Moss, who is retiring from policing after 30 years of service.

Chief Constable Pippa Mills said: “I’m delighted to welcome Alex to West Mercia Police and look forward to working with him. He is joining a dedicated chief officer team, working together to lead the force in delivering a quality policing service to every community we serve.”  

Of his new role DCC Murray said: “The officers and staff in West Mercia Police are absolutely committed to tackling crime, protecting people and their communities and improving the service we deliver to victims.  

“There is a huge ambition across the force to continually improve the service we provide and it will be a privilege to work with the team and the Chief Constable, Pippa Mills.”
