Temporary one way system on Hereford road

A temporary one-way system on a busy Hereford road will remain in place until December.

The Southbank Road lane travelling towards Aylsetone Hill has been closed since October 22 to allow for a water mains pipe to be replaced.

Herefordshire Council request this lane closure, which will last until December 1, to ensure the ensure the safety of motorists while work is underway.

A Welsh Water spokesman said: “We are currently working on a major project to install a brand new water pipe for our customers in Hereford.

“Our £1.9 million investment will ensure customers in the area continue to receive a first class drinking water supply for decades to come.

“As part of the work, a temporary one way system will be put in place on Southbank Road, from the junction of Aylston Hill to the junction of Bodenham Road.

“This has been requested by the local highways authority and will ensure we protect the safety of motorists and our team while the work is taking place.

“This is the first phase of our work and Southbank Road which is set to be completed by the beginning of December with the second phase beginning in the new year.

“We would like to thank people in advance for their patience while we complete this project which will bring long term benefits for the area.”
