A 23-year-old prison support worker has been handed a suspended sentence after admitting a relationship with an inmate at HMP Prescoed in Usk.
Cardiff Crown Court heard Megan Breen told the prisoner she loved him and slept with him while he was on licence in 2022.
She was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete rehabilitation and pay £500 costs.
The judge said Breen showed remorse and cited her childcare duties and pregnancy as reasons custody was suspended.
