Poultry unit plan near Shrewsbury

A poultry unit for 32,000 birds has been proposed at a farm near Shrewsbury.

Andrew Brisbourne hopes to develop the free range laying unit at Painsbrook Farm in Hadnall.

The application includes erecting three feed bins and ancillary equipment on the 16 hectare site.

If successful it would create two jobs – one full-time and one part-time.

Pre-application advice received from Philip Mullineux, principal planner at Shropshire Council, at the end of 2017 said: “While on the basis of the information as provided to-date, I consider that the principle of development as indicated could be considered acceptable in principle, the proposal represents significant development in the open countryside to which careful consideration is required to all the subject issues as identified in this letter.

“In this instance careful consideration is required to issues as raised and in particular in relationship to landscape and ecological mitigation, (landscape and visual impact assessment is strongly recommended to accompany any formal application for the development), as well as impacts on residential amenity and public highway access.”

A decision from Shropshire Council is expected in the New Year.
