A Herefordshire farm plans to build a sizeable shed to house vintage tractors, complete with underfloor heating to better preserve them.
David Saer of New House Farm, Nordan, north of Leominster, is seeking planning permission (application 240053) to knock down a Dutch barn and single-storey outbuilding at the site, immediately alongside the B4361.
The replacement 12-by-9-metre steel-framed shed, with an eave height of 3.6 metres, “will contain underfloor heating to preserve the condition of the vintage tractors”, his application explains.
The profiled sheeting which would form the roof and upper part of the walls would come with an insulation layer, “providing a continuous insulated envelope to maintain a constant temperature ideal for the efficiency of the underfloor heating system”, it adds.
The submitted plans suggest the shed would be large enough to store eight tractors. It would be screened from the road by new planting.
The application also seeks permission for a new oak-framed carport on the other side of the farmhouse.
Comments on the application can be made until February 1.
