A prominent Hereford car showroom has been given permission to knock down three outbuildings.
Spa Motors, which took over the former Steels garage at the junction of Eign Street and Victoria Street in November, sought confirmation it could go ahead and demolish four masonry and steel-frame buildings to the rear, also accessed from Portland Street to the north.
This was in order to “prepare the site for the next phase of development” – for which a separate planning application “will submitted shortly”, the Welsh-based firm said.
Planning officer Joshua Evans said the proposal met rules governing so-called permitted development, which does not require full planning permission.
“The method of demolition and restoration of the site have been appropriately explained and justified to the satisfaction of the local planning authority,” he said.
