Businesses were evacuated in Bridgnorth High Street earlier following a loud explosion.
Fire crews from Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock were called to the town centre at just before 9:30am following reports of a "hole in the pavement following explosion.
The incident was declared as a gas leak but supplier Cadent confirmed it was an electrical fault involving an underground cable fault.
No one was injured during the incident.
Power was restored to around 39 properties by 1pm.
