Nightclub agrees new last entry time

Hereford nightclub Rubix will have a later last entry time and an outside bar in the smoking area after agreeing conditions with police.

James Smith had applied to Herefordshire Council to vary the licence conditions for the 80’s bar.

He asked for permission to add an outside bar in the smoking area and to vary the last entry time from 1am to 2.30am.

The council’s licensing sub-committee was due to consider the proposals last week due to an objection by West Mercia Police.

But after conditions were agreed between the force and the business the application did not need to go before the committee.

Mr Smith has agreed with police that last entry time for all customers will be 2.30am.

There will be no re-entry for any customers after that time and a written system will be put in place by the premises licence holder to allow ‘late night economy workers’ entry to the premises after 2.30am.

They would need to produce evidence that they are employed as part of the night time economy and have come from their place of work.

Mr Smith also agreed that the premises licence holder will have in place a dispersal policy which will be produced on demand to the police or any other authorised persons as per the Licensing Act 2003.

The existing conditions, which include restricting the use of the external area after 2.30am and the requirement to use poly carbonate vessels over 330ml and replace existing stock, and the requirements with regards to door staff, will remain in place.
