A man remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder near Monmouth.
Police were called to a serious assault in Church Road in Trellech at around 8.40pm on Saturday after a man was found unconscious and unresponsive.
The Welsh Ambulance Service who confirmed that a 56-year-old man had died at the scene.
A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
