Residents in Bromyard have been left shocked after police launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman at a home in the town.
Emergency services were called to Apple Tree Close at around 6am on Saturday (27 September). A 61-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Police officers are expected to remain at the property in the coming days as part of the investigation, and residents have been told not to be concerned by their presence.
Detective Inspector Joanne Delahay, who is leading the case, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends who are coming to terms with this tragic event in which a woman has sadly lost her life.
An incident such as this brings huge concern to the local community and I would like to offer our reassurance that there is no wider threat to members of the public. Please do not be alarmed to see officers at the property as they will remain at the scene to support our investigation."
The incident has understandably caused unease in the neighbourhood, but police say there is no danger to the wider public.
