For the second year running, Moreton Show will be hosting over 30 Horse of the Year qualifiers (HOYS) giving competitors the opportunity to win their golden ticket to the iconic Horse of the Year Show.

Jess, Moreton Show’s Horse Secretary, announced: “It’s a great honour to be hosting over 30 Horse of the Year qualifiers at Moreton Show again in 2025. Moreton Show is one of the last opportunities in the equine calendar for competitors to claim their spot at the HOYS, so we‘re excited for a great turnout!”

The HOYS qualifiers include Mountain & Moorland and Coloured qualifiers; these are always extremely popular classes with both competitors and spectators.

And that’s not all, the Cotswold Eco Tubs Horse Area timetable is also set to be an equine extravaganza, with the welcome the return of the Arena Eventing Challenge, which has grown increasingly popular since it was introduced three years ago. Jess continues “… We hope the novice classes will attract lots of local competitors looking for a family friendly competition. We’re really excited to see many familiar faces at the show on 6th September and hopefully some new ones too!”

The Six Bar Challenge will have the crowd around the Grand Arena on the edge of their seats as adrenaline-fuelled competitors go head-to-head in a high jump competition with the fences getting increasingly higher. That’s not the only show jumping competition you’ll see in the Grand Arena; the Five Show Challenge will also be back! To explain, this is a points accumulation competition for all exhibitors who compete in the 1.20m/1.25m at Royal Three Counties Show, Hanbury Countryside Show, Ashby Show and Burwarton Show and the final, Moreton Show – so this is where their scores will be added up and first, second and third prizes awarded.

The other equine competition you won’t want to miss in the Grand Arena is the Hayman-Joyce Pony Club Pairs Relay! Dynamic duos from pony clubs up and down the country will compete over a series of jumps for the Hayman-Joyce Challenge Trophy.

Over in the Cotswold Eco Tubs Horse Area there will plenty to keep the family entertained! Teams of four or individual competitors will also take on the Arena Evening Challenge, competing over 8-10 show jumps then leading onto 6-8 portable and fixed cross-country jumps and then finishing over a final joker fence.

Things will also be hotting up in the Farriery Marquee this year as the fiery farriers go head-to-head crafting plain metal into horseshoes to perfectly fit the horse’s hoof – all within the time limit.

The Hook Norton Shires, along with other heavy horse breeds, will be back in the Hooky Horse Area again this year. Visitors will be able to meet and stroke these gentle giants as they learn all about their breed, the history of heavy horses and how they used to work the land before the invention of tractors.

Moreton Show is a great place to compete this year, particularly if you would like to gain your spot at Horse of the Year Show!
