A Cwmbran man has appeared in court charged with possession of an explosive substance.
A warrant was executed at an address in Monnow Court, Thornhill, at around 11.30am on Thursday, August 27.
A 46-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, under section 4 of the Explosives Substances Act.
He has since been charged with possession of an explosive substance for unlawful purpose.
He appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on August 29 and has been remanded until his next court appearance on September 7.
Police were assisted by the Explosives Ordnance Division (EOD) to seize items from the address and ensure the safety of local residents at all times.
