Ludlow MP congratulates local charities on Kings Awards

South Shropshire MP, Philip Dunne, has congratulated four local charities for receiving the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.  

Clun Valley Good Neighbours Scheme, Ludlow Cancer Support Group, The Cavalier Centre in Much Wenlock, and South Shropshire Engineering Ambassadors were four of the 262 organisations across the UK to have been awarded the first ever King’s Award for Voluntary Service - the highest award given to local volunteer groups in recognition of their outstanding community service. 

Formerly known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the award was established in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee. It is equivalent to an MBE and is the highest honour awarded to voluntary groups.  

Mr Dunne said: “I am delighted that four very worthwhile charities from South Shropshire have been recognised in the first King’s Awards for Voluntary Service.  

This is just recognition of the important work they undertake in our community, and I congratulate everyone involved at each charity.”
