Several venues including Monmouth's Savoy Theatre were illuminated in red last night to symbolise the industry’s current struggle, and red alert status.
The aim is to highlight the significant ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on amazing live events venues – and the people and professionals who work within them and alongside them.
Around the world arts and event venues were illuminated on Wednesday between 8pm and 11pm to highlight the Red Alert theme.
Covid has devastated the industry, with the cancellation of major festivals and tours and closure of landmark theatres, to grassroots venues and business events. Without major immediate support from government, this entire supply chain is at risk of collapse.
The Savoy Theatre in Monmouth was lit up red in the same week it celebrated hitting its £10,000 crowdfunding appeal so it can survive the winter.
In Hereford, The Courtyard Theatre was also lit up in support of the #WeMakeEvents theme.
